Jan-13-04   northernsoul: notice the way Gary kicks Spassky's head right off his body
May-23-04   Tigran Petrosian: Lane beats spassky in Spassky's pet opening.

Joshka: Wow...according to Short, Spassky has never lost a King's Gambit...but is this then just a blitz game?...or rapid?...guess he missed this one...but still for Spassky to have only lost one King's Gambit I find amazing.

Joshka: The game is Not listed in my chessbase database...maybe it's a blitz game, and they don't of course for good reason list all these fast, blitz, and rapid games.
Sep-13-04   sneaky pete: <Joshka> As a kibitzer on another page noticed: SMX means SiMultaneous eXhibition. I guess Gary Lane was at the time still an unknown teenager.

  Joshka: Spassky's 8.d4..looks like a new move?....a game in chessbase has 8.Nc3....Fritz likes 8.d3!

Joshka: <everett> Yes...REGULAR....blitz and simuls wouldn't qualify as far as I'm concerned.
Sep-20-04   Everett: Hanada, I'll save all the errrs for you. Please keep it at three r's, not four. Thanks.
Jun-09-06   Chesschatology: I like the way the initiative see-saws back and forth- blacks peices spill out, retreat again, he castles, White can't, then out come the black peices again, then with Bd8 they all retreat once more, but now Black's an exchange up. Off come the queens and a pair of minors and ... White resigns!
Jan-05-09   spasskey69: I am amazed at Boris's record with this opening. This is his only loss, and that in a less-than-serious game! He ought to write a book on it!
