Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-27-04  grozny: A very nice win for Morozevich. After 33. ♔e2? there is that nice little combination with 33. ... ♘f5! which pretty much seals the game. The e pawn is pinned and if it takes the knight: 34. exf5 ♕xe3+ 35. ♔d1 ♕xe1+.

I also liked the last move. The continuation would be: 39... ♖c4 40. ♕xc4 ♕xc4 as White is practically forced to take the rook. Game over.

I love the way Sasha Morozevich plays. I just wish he would play more often.

Jul-13-04  Geronimo: Agreed, <grozny>, this is a really nice game. It illustrates the principle that "position" does not mean "territory": As white overextends his kingside pawns early, Moro is limited to three ranks, but he's never cramped. Instructive.
Sep-06-04  Jack Rabbit: Could White have avoided loss with (instead of 31 Kg3) <31 Bf2 Qg4+ Kf1>?
Nov-20-10  MUG: Van Wely had to face the Chigorin against Morozevich two years earlier.

Van Wely vs Morozevich, 1993

Both games are pretty exciting!

Aug-11-19  ColdSong: An hypermodern diamond.I hope Morozevich can come back to a higher level.
