Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-17-05  KingG: Fedorov had this end-game completely won at several points. The most obvious being 33.Bg6 and 36.Bxb7! Rxb2+ 37.Kc6 .
Dec-17-05  KingG: There might be a better try than 10.d3 to play for a win, and that is 10.Kf2!?. Here is some analysis, mainly by Bangiev and Thomas Johansson, but supplemented by Fritz.

9.Nd5 Qg6 10.Kf2 Qg3+[10...Bg7 11.c3 Qxe4 12.Qe2! (12.Nxc7+? Kd8 13.Nxa8 Bd4+ 14.cxd4 Qxd4+ 15.Ke1 Re8+ 16.Be2 Bg4–+) 12...Qxe2+ 13.Bxe2 Kd8 14.d4 ]

11.Kg1 Bg7 [11...Nd4 12.d3 (12.c3?! f3 13.Qa4+ c6 14.Nf6+ Kd8 15.Qxd4 fxg2 16.Bxg2 Qe1+ 17.Bf1 Qg3 ) 12...f3 13.Rh2 (13.Be3? Ne2+ –+) 13...fxg2 14.Bxg2 Ne6 15.d4 Be7 16.Nxe7 ]

12.c3 Bg4 13.Be2 Ne5 14.Bxg4 Nxg4 15.Qe2 [15.Qf1!?(suggested by Fritz) f3 16.Rh3 f2+ 17.Kh1 Qe5 18.Nxc7+ Kd7 19.Nxa8 Rxa8 20.d3 Kc7 21.Be3 Nxe3 22.Rxe3 (Fritz)]

15...f3 16.Qxf3 Qe1+ 17.Qf1 Qxe4 18.Nxc7+ Kd8 19.Nb5 a6 20.d3 Qd5 [20...Qe5= Fritz] 21.Qf3±(Bangiev)

Mar-16-07  AlfieNoakes: That's dangerously like the tumbleweed and that's one hell of a can of worms!
Jun-27-08  castelao2: I think that 12...Nd4 (in the line 10.Kf2 Qg3+ 11.Kg1 Bg7 12.c3)with idea of f3 is a serious improvement; I check it with Fritz and offers clear black advantage in the main line 13.Be2 Rg8 14.Kf1 Kd8 15.d3 Ne2 16.Qe2 Bg4 and then f3
