Mar-28-06  aragorn69: Interesting game. But is it authentical? I did not know that the great Russian writer Ivan Turguenyev (1818-1883) was such a competent player...
May-01-06  vonKrolock: This game is mentioned in the article http://freeweb.supereva.com/carmelo... as a proof that Turgen(y)ev was a stronger player than realized by Dubois - well, is a lively, interesting game, and endorsed by many sources... <3...Bb4> : The Turge-Indian - why not!?
May-31-14  dernier thylacine: Turguenev, Tostoï and Dostoïevsky were the three best russian writers of their time. And I assume the first wrote as beautiful and deep books as the two others. Let's mention that Turguenev was too a friend of the great french novelist Flaubert, that he fought against the horrible moujik condition which was like slavery, and at last that he had a very beautiful and romantic but a little sad love affaire with the famous opera singer Pauline Viardot...

To be short: a very great and nice guy, like later Tchekhov...

Sep-08-18  Granny O Doul: I'd guess it's real. It isn't brilliant enough to be a fake. But it does make Turgenev a contender for the all-time celebrity chess team.

Normally a centralised queen is an advantage, especially against multiple minor pieces, but this position is an exception - the White queen has very few decent moves.
