GrahamClayton: 8. ♘f3 seems forced, although Black would still seem to have an advantage after 8...♗g4.
Dec-03-14  ughaibu: Great final move!
Sep-30-22  Ziryab: I really enjoy this game.
Sep-26-24  mel gibson: I saw the first few moves straight away.

Stockfish 17 says:

9. .. Nf3+

(9. .. Nf3+ (1. ... Nf3+ 2.gxf3 Bxf3 3.e5 Nd5 4.exd6+ Kf8 5.Qe5 Bxd6 6.Qg3 Bxg3 7.fxg3 Qb6+ 8.Rf2 Re8 9.b3 Kg8 10.Ba3 Nxc3 11.dxc3 Bd5 12.c4 Be6 13.Bb2 h5 14.h4 f6 ) +4.84/43 524)

score for Black +4.84 depth 43.

Sep-26-24  stacase: Easy peasy continues
Sep-26-24  Mayankk: 9 ... Nf3+ 10 gxf3 Bxf3 seems a given. Now Black needs a tempo to deliver mate via 11 ... Qd7, 12 ... Qg4+ etc. White has a few defensive tries, like 11 Ne2 Qg7 12 Ng3, where 12 ... Qh3 13 Nf4 doesn't seem to work. But 12 ... h5 still seemed to work given how exposed the White King was.

I didn't work out the 11 e5 defense though. Primary theme there seems to be the Ng4 and Bxh2# threat. But it's not hard to see and can be solved over the board.

The thing is that 11 ...Nxf3 12 gxf3 Nxf3 makes the White King so vulnerable optically that most of us will play it on intuition.

Teyss: Considered the first two moves of course but didn't know how best Black could defend and certainly didn't see the very creative if insufficient e5 - exd6 - Qe7.

11.Ne2 Ng4 is mate in 9 per the computer.

Here SF wants to play 14. Qg3 which only computer will play, but a human player trying to salvage something from the game will not. I went with 14. Qf5 Qh4 15.h3 and got stuck. White has seemingly thwarted the mating threat. Then computer showed the way with 15...Qf6 This looks like a retreating move at first. But after 16. Qxf6 gxf6 opens up g file for the rook.

Sep-26-24  cocker: After 10 ... Bxf3, White is remarably helpless to defend his King's side.
Sep-26-24  NBZ: I loved the finish: 13. ... Bxd6! Not that hard to see, perhaps, but it's very pretty at least to my eyes.
Sep-26-24  stacase: < NBZ> Ha ha! I never looked to see that it was# I thought it was a resignation Duh!

  olinart: I cannot find a black win after 9...Nf3+ 10. gxf3 Bxf3 11. h3
for example ..Nxe4 12. Nxe4 Qh4 13. Ng3+ Kf8
seems to hold, as do lines after Ng4 as long as the h3 pawn stays put. ..Ng2 12. Ne2 Qh4 13. Ndf4
Sep-26-24  Twilight of the Idol: <olinart>, without checking with an engine, my instinct is 11. ... Ng4 12. Ne2 Qh4 13. Ndf4 g5 is overwhelming. I don't see any feasible defenses for white there. If you move the knight, the h-pawn drops all the same. If you don't move the knight, the g-file opens and it's murder.
