  plang: 6..b6!? is unusual and a little risky from a strategic standpoint. 8 cxd was a new move; 8 Ne5 and 8 b3 had been played previously. Mamedyarov felt that 12 Bg5?! was where White started to lose his opening advantage recommending instead 12 Rc1..Nxf4 13 gxf..Qd6 14 e3..c6 15 Rc3 with a small White edge. The position after 15 Rc2 reminded Black of a game he had won (also with Black) in the 2003 Under-18 World Championship against Kharitonov where he had played a similar exchange sacrifice on e3. White started to misplay the defense with 19 Rd1?!; better was 19 Nxc5..Nxc5 20 Rxc5..Bc4 21 b4..a5 22 Qd2..Qb6 23 Rxa5..Rxe3 24 Rc5..Ra3 with unclear complications. A pretty variation would have been 22 e4..Qb6 23 e3..Nc5 24 exd..Nd3 25 Qb1..Rxe3 26 Nxc4..Qxd4 27 Nxe3..Qxe3+ 28 Kh1..Ne4 29 Rf1..Ndf2+ 30 Kg1..Nh3+ 31 Kh1..Qg1+ 32 Rxg1..Nef2+ and wins. 29 Ng5..Nxg5 30 exg..Bxg5 31 Bxd5..Bxe3 32 Rxe3..Nxe3 33 Nxe3..Qb6 would also have been winning for Black.

Very nice attack - I am surprised this game hasn't received more attention.
