Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-21-06  DutchDunce: First of all, YAWN.

Second of all, why is this classified as a QGD, as opposed to a Nimzo-Indian Samisch? Is it because of the move order, or something about some of the moves after the 5th one?

Feb-21-06  alicefujimori: Well, Vallejo-Pons definitely need a draw. Considering the fact that he had lost both his first two games, this draw is understandable. It's important to build up confidence after a bad start.
Feb-21-06  supertimchan: How can this game be classifed as Nimzo-Indian. A way off.
Feb-21-06  euripides: <dutch> I agree this looks like a Saemisch by transposition.
Feb-21-06  olydream3: quick draw again for this tournament
Feb-21-06  DutchDunce: <stc> After move 5, the position is exactly a Nimzo. That's why I'm speculating that either (1) the order of the first 5 moves, or (2) something that happens after move 5, makes this a QGD instead.

Maybe it's both, a Nimzo's Sambit Declined or something.

Do i heard right?? Confidence?? come on, Vallejo is simply too weak for Linares, and if he wants to improve he has to stop short draws, he could have fighted a lot here and try to win.

Feb-26-06  aw1988: <Vallejo is simply too weak for Linares>

You could say the same about Topalov...
