Jul-06-06  Libar: 55. f4 - Qg4. Why no?
Jul-06-06  aw1988: 56. Nf2 at quick glance
Jul-06-06  jeremyk: I think 56. Qxe8 threatens 57. Qh8# so black has no time to capture anything.

LIFE Master AJ: Years ago, a master told me that 8.d4 was "nothing to worry about." (Speelman even dismisses it as 'garbage.')

[ See MCO-14, page # 91, and columns # 41 and # 42. ]

"Of the Anti-Marshall systems, only 8.h3 and 8.a4 are serious attempts for advantage." - GM Nick de Firmian [MCO-14, page # 92 and note # (p.).]

I have spent several days studying this game ... and the general theory of this line - and 8.d4 looks like a good try to me.

al wazir: 54...Ng7 looks better than the move black played. If 55. f4, then 55...Qg3 56. Qd8 Kh7. White still wins by pushing his queenside ♙s, but at least black holds out longer this way.

LIFE Master AJ: Almost needles to say, the great Kamsky tied for first at the World Open ... and won the play-off.
