Aug-27-22  Saniyat24: Can't White move the Queen to d1 or take the black Queen on e6, why did Zaitsev resign here?
Aug-27-22  Nerwal: White has lost all initiative and Black is two pawns up for nothing. Back then the games were adjourned after the time control at move 40, so Ubilava would have all the time in the world to work out the details on how to convert this position. Therefore playing on was a waste of time and energy.

perfidious: <Nerwal....Back then the games were adjourned after the time control at move 40....>

This is inaccurate; sometimes games lasted a while longer, as a five-hour session was played, for however many moves, before adjournment. A case in point was Karpov vs Keene, 1977.
