Sep-04-11  Edmontonchessclub: Weird that Moro offered a draw here, eliminating himself from the tournament. Its a must-win situation, and they are still in the opening.
Sep-04-11  Xeroxx: must be a conspiracy
Sep-04-11  Akavall: Surprising indeed. White has very little to lose by playing on, even if the position is totally drawish.

Also, normally Morozevich is really good at getting into offbeat complicated positions; however, he failed completely this time.

Sep-04-11  Akavall: Why not 7. Bh4?

I start to get a feeling that Morozevich forgot the result of the previous game!

Sep-04-11  whiteshark: Morozevich concentrated (?) right before the start of the game: http://chess.ugrasport.com/wp-conte...

Sep-04-11  Ramin: this match was fixed from the beginning and i knew it from the previous game when moro went for the pawn on d4 and played so passively. so sick to my stomach.

perfidious: <Ramin> What was the fix and how much was Morozevich paid off for his trouble?

Just curious, since you appear to have inside information on this.

Sep-04-11  Xeroxx: CIA was involved.

HeMateMe: Sad. Looks like the stress of high level chess has him freaked out.
Sep-04-11  Edmontonchessclub: I don't think there is any conspiracy. I think Moro didn't like his position. But still, it is not drawish and there is tons of play left. He should have played on. Maybe he had a headache or something.

perfidious: In the 1980s, I played a game as Black in this line and got easy equality; it's become a type of Exchange QGD in which Black has managed to gain free development for his bad bishop, so has no problems.
Sep-05-11  Bratek: Morozevich, as a chess player, is an uncompromising fighter. But today, it was not the chess player who sat down at the beginning of the game. It was simply the man himself....a man lacking the confidence and resolve to face what needed to be done that day.http://kevinspraggett.blogspot.com/...
