Open Defence: almost like an Old Benoni
Jun-22-12  thickhead: Congratulations to Humpy for winning the tournament.
Jun-23-12  ponderousdog8: A fine game by our one of the best chess players - males included. Right from move 11 she took initiative and thereafter she conducted the attack convincingly.
Jun-24-12  parisattack: Lots of scope in the Franco-Benoni. Happy to see it get a play at this level.
Jan-06-14  parisattack: This seems to be the only way to make ...Ne7 work in a Benoni-like position, going to g6 fairly quickly and opting for ...Be7.

...Ne7 looks cool enough - leaves the diagonal open for the fianchetto, supports ...f5. But having looked at a 50 or so games: 1) Black's pieces get tangled and cannot support the Q-side thematic thrust with ...b5; 2. The K-side is weakened to an h4 attack; 3. d6 becomes embarrassingly weak.

Barcza-Larsen Defense by Fields and Franco-Benoni by Soltis cover the Benoni ~ ...Nf6 lines although the categorization is a bit unsettled.
