Ng5 might have been just as good. According to the computers, 35. Nd4? is an error that could have been exploited by 35...Re5 which wins the pawn on d5 after 35...Re5 36. f3 Rxd5 (-0.99 @ 26 depth, Komodo 9.02 64 bit). However, Black still gets just about as strong an advantage after 35...h4 . After 41. Rdd4?, White was hanging on by a thread after 41...Rxe4 (-3.06 2 35 depth, Stockfish 7). White escapes the loss, as Black plays 45...Rc4? and overlooks the winning 45...Rf6! which simplifies to a won game after 46. Rxf6 Kxf6 (-4.26 @ 25 depth, Komodo 9.3 64-bit). Black also missed another clear win with 55...h5+! 56. Kh3 Rd5 (-6.64 @ 33 depth, Komodo 9.3 64 bit). |
