Chessical: This game won Lein the tournament prize for the best played endgame.
Jul-06-14  rapidcitychess: And it is quite a great endgame to look over. White perfectly demonstates Capablanca's statement of "Whoever has the most pawn islands loses."

White is winning the pawn island race by 3-2. (according to Capa's rule of thumb he should losing.)

Just prior to Black resigning White made it 3-1 in his favour regarding pawn islands. (that is a joke.)

Set up the Pawn Islands first to tie your opponent down to defending them and then, when the time is right, (this game is perfect example) forget about pawn islands and create a passed pawn or pawns.

Passed pawns are better than Pawn islands. (I said that.)

A very good game.
