  al wazir: <GrahamClayton>: I think that should be 18. Nd5 Qe5 19. e4 fxe6 20. Bf4.

Nice. But black is slightly better off after 19...Bc5 20. Nxc5 g5.

Apr-16-24  watwinc: <al wazir> 19...Bc5 20 Nxc5 g5 21 Nxd7 and Black is dead, surely?
Apr-16-24  Teyss: I like the Qside Knight trip. Takes the Rook on a1, patiently stays there for 13 moves waiting for its moment, manages to take another Rook, then a Bishop and a Pawn, travels all over the board, stays alive until the end... for nothing. How ironical.
Apr-16-24  goodevans: Not an opening for the faint hearted!

A shame Gawain missed 18.Nd5! which would have been brilliant. It's still a great game nonetheless.

White had to win it twice. SF reckons it was equal after 28.Rxa7 (0.00 @ 29 ply). However, as long as they're not weak my money is always on the extra pawns vs the extra piece in the endgame so I wasn't surprised at the outcome.

Apr-16-24  Saniyat24: Two little blackbirds couldn't do much...!

Honza Cervenka: It looks like good home preparation. But instead of 21.Bxa8 it was much better to play 21.Ne6+ at first with idea 21...fxe6 22.Bxa8 Kg7 23.Bg2 +-
