Nov-05-17  Marmot PFL: Lively game. Usually white plays the Spanish to get a slower game with positional control but black wasn't having any of that.
Nov-05-17  Fanques Fair: 6-...g5!?! , I didn´t know this line !
Nov-05-17  Fanques Fair: White moved his bishop so many times that it gives the impression that he didn´t understand well this loose position. Better would have been to play Bh4 after Black's pawn move h6. The idea of moving the g and h pawns to attack White´s king would have been much more difficult.
Nov-05-17  Calli: The Shak of the New?
Nov-06-17  Andrew Chapman: 'Better would have been to play Bh4 after Black's pawn move h6. ' Black didn't play h6. Did you mean f6? Andrew
Nov-06-17  Roark: I'm sad that Grischuk won't be breaking 2800 rating taking into account his last round game according to the live rating list. I was still very impressed by his play this event despite this game.

  HeMateMe: love the opening.
Nov-07-17  Nerwal: Grischuk spoke very highly of Mamedyarov's play in this game, saying he didn't get outplayed like since his games against Kasparov as a youngster and that the computer was also unable to hold the position as White.

Shak has a real proclivity for finding and fine-tuning obscure lines like this. It really serves him well as you can see from the present game. Alex fumbles around losing tempo after tempo until Shak has built quite a K-side initiative, something you can't allow when playing him.

Nov-08-17  Whitehat1963: The ending looks like it favors black, but is there a clear forcing line at the end? What’s best play?
Nov-08-17  Nerwal: <The ending looks like it favors black, but is there a clear forcing line at the end? What’s best play?>

The most forcing line is 36... ♖e2+ 37. ♔g3 g1=♕+ 38. ♕xg1 ♖g2+ 39. ♕xg2 fxg2 40. ♖xd5 g1=♕+ -+.

Nov-08-17  Whitehat1963: Thank you. That is indeed clear and forcing.
