Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-09-18  zborris8: 3/2 Blitz : Last Round

Did Nakamura see a ghost? After <31.b3>, Nakamura may have feared that <31...Nxa3+> traps the knight, and wanted to move it out of there. Equality for Nakamura would have been maintained by <31...e5>, attacking the rook. This error resulted in a sequence of moves that almost lost the game for him, but which was saved after forcing <75.Kxf8>.

Sep-24-19  patzer2: Instead of 47. Ka2? =, potentially allowing 47...e3 =, White could have won with 47. fxe4 dxe4 48. c4 +- (+27.93 @ 31 ply, Stockfish 10).

As <zborris8> analysis suggests, Black's 31...Na5? allowing 32. Kb2 ± to +- (+2.14 @ 35 ply, Stockfish 10) was a mistake that almost lost the game.

Instead, 31...e5 = (0.00 @ 30 ply, Stockfish 10) holds it level.
