<" Geniuses like Beethoven, Leonardo da Vinci, Shakespeare, and Fischer come out of the head of Zeus, seem to be genetically programmed, know before instructed. ">

-- John Collin

I can't believe that. Crude and annoying picture, too.

Feb-04-08  sneaky pete: But why point the finger at Jean Collin, who never harmed a fly? The true culprit is of course John W Collins, author of the infamous <My seven chess brats>.
Feb-04-08  Calli: "head of Zeus" is a Greek mythology reference. I remember Athena and possibly other "Gods" emerged from Zeus. Thats about all I remember. Probably meant symbolically to mean a birth without parents or sex. Collins did not make up the imagery to annoy you.
Feb-04-08  Jim Bartle: Athena sprang from the head of Zeus, and he fathered other deities by disguising himself in other forms, such as a swan.

Yeah, sure, because dressing up like a swan is really going to help you with the ladies. What's next, dating tips from Big Bird?

Feb-04-08  Calli: The expression,"to spring from head of Zeus", then, means that someone emerged in full maturity without going through the childhood learning process.
May-31-08  whiteshark: Today the very same QotD. :-(
May-31-08  whiteshark: <sneaky pete: <My seven chess brats>> It's only lately that the penny has dropped. Hilarious !! :D
