Alien Math: Adobe fixed one of these vulnerabilities last week but another two zero-days remain unaddressed. Both CVE-2015-5122 and CVE-2015-5123 present a critical code injection risk on Windows, Macintosh and Linux systems.

Patches are promised later this week (possibly as early as Tuesday) but Mozilla has decided to act proactively ahead of their release.

"All versions of Adobe’s Flash Player plugin are currently deactivated by default, until Adobe releases an updated version to address known critical security issues," Mozilla explains on a support page.

Mark Schmidt, head of the Firefox support team at Mozilla, heralded the Flash lockdown on Twitter before other Mozilla sources clarified that the move is likely to be a temporary restriction pending patching rather than a permanent sanction against the frequently abused Flash technology.

Also remind to check the Java version in every browser, many Java type can be installed with different browsers using different versions,

Include that Java can be enabled in one browser and disabled in another.

Alien Math: Notes from Alaska by Julia O'Malley

"In Alaska, nobody really cares if you went to Harvard, but if your grandmother was buried here, you should say so because it gives you cred. I think this is because there are only 700,000 people in this state and a whole lot of dangerous country, animals and weather.

People from very different backgrounds tend to find themselves relying on each other, so we care most about stuff like whether you are the type to carry a tow strap in your truck and would be willing to pull us out of a ditch in a snowstorm. Politics come way second. Our loyalty to Denali over McKinley is driven by the same impulse."

Alien Math: Rest in Peace "Princess Leia"
aka Carrie Fisher 1956 - 2016
Premium Chessgames Member
Domdaniel: <Alien Math> I adored Carrie Fisher - for her writing and her acting. So sorry I never met her. And now both Carrie and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, die within a couple of days.

Too many deaths in 2016: including two of my favorite musical artists, David Bowie and Leonard Cohen.

I didn't meet them either. I saw Cohen play twice in the later years, 2008-10. But I first *wanted* to see him in the 1970s. I was too young when he played Ireland in 1974, and I couldn't get away from school. But two years later I had a ticket - and then could not go as I was ill.

I never saw Bowie. Sometime around 1990 he played a 'secret' gig in a tiny venue - a bar - in Dublin. Access was very limited. I heard about it in advance and was going to go ... then I thought of a friend of mine, a much more dedicated Bowie fan. He had been having a difficult time in his life, and I felt that seeing Bowie would do him good. So I let him go instead of me.

So it goes. I'm lucky to have met many of the writers and artists I admire. But it is not a competition.

Have a good 2017.

Domdaniel: BTW, <AM> - "The Curve of the Earth", a sci-fi novel by the English writer Simon Morden, is mostly set in Alaska. You might find that interesting.

But he's a good writer anyway. This book is 4th in his Metrozone series, about a Russian genius, Petrovich, in London and later in Ireland, after a nuclear war in which Petersburg and Tokyo were devastated, and the USA has been taken over by fundamentalist Christians (aka 'xtians').

Alien Math: As a newly introduced lesbian,
me and my girlfriend were recently "tossed out" or threatened by the closest religious church i think it was, i and my girlfriend are currently unable to learn further of the christian words, maybe i am doomed to be buddhist and not christian? a random thought
Premium Chessgames Member
  Alien Math: at any rate,
my caring for her far outweighs any illusions of perfection, she is here for me when,

i endure anxiety attacks, panic attacks (separate incidents)

and i want her to be happy, so maybe i am against what the normal christians appear as, so be it, until they can provide what my nara can provide, i am here on earth for my nara, my girlfriend, my hero when i cannot endure the current situation i am in, she is my strength that i am comfort by, knowing she is here, is more than anything, anything at all,

she is, therefor life is, i separate today from others, so those curious can tell that there are 2 worlds, what we hope for and what we live through

Feel secure in the knowledge that love conquers all.

There are many different interpretations of the Christian message. Examine the Quakers or the Unitarians, for example. There are dozens of variations. Some of them might offer the kind of support you seek.

  Alien Math: boomie lov,
i mostly hope for,
not being shot while i exhibit cute kiss type emotes in return from my girlfriend when we are trying not to giggle at inopportune times,

she is often one of the most cute dolls when she isn't trying to get me into trouble <3 which is often enough i suppose,

i care for her, nothing else would i be so ready to stand for or against, she is everything to me in some inane way

moronovich: Hi´<Alien Math> ! Congratulations to your new relationship! Which hopefully will turn out to be succesfull for both of you. Nothing beats love between humans in my book.
And if you could look through the narrowmindedness from the church, you may do yourself a great favor. Millions and millions from different churches over the world would sanction a relation like yours. And it can never be your fault some hardcore mummies have chosen to take the bible litterally and if you look at some of the more healthy societes you will see there is no problem in the big picture.

All the best to your further endavours

Alien Math: thanks <moronovich> this entire situation is relatively new to us, before i met her i didn't think i would ask a girl to stay with me like this,

following trumps revoking of some lgbt protections, the rest of the community here just seemed to be more open with being for or against relationships that aren't guy/girl,

all my learning before was from a buddhist point of view and not a christ type environment, so starting out on the wrong foot probably isn't helping much,

really don't understand why they were so vocal in their reaction to us at the church we were told to go away, i'm thinking they were just overreacting somehow now that trump is president and actively throwing away lgbt rights and protections, another area i am new to learning about
