|Mar-25-14|| ||KKDEREK: <Jim Bartle: Brilliant play by Zico on that first goal, on the video.
Was the guy who marked him really named Gentile?>|
I was abaut to say that. Amazing play, I think it was Scirea.
|Mar-25-14|| ||perfidious: <Jim> Do you remember the baseball player Jim Gentile? He had a big '61 season, which was overshadowed by Maris and his 61 homers, as well as Norm Cash's career year. Believe he had been trapped in the Dodger farm system behind Gil Hodges--not quite the same as being a Yankee prospect in Gehrig's shadow, but quite enough.|
|Mar-25-14|| ||KKDEREK: Ok I have a question (and already a pic). Who's the best quarterback ever (and why?) My impression is that you guys take a lot of importance to statistics..|
|Mar-25-14|| ||Jim Bartle: Sure, Jim Gentile. Played for Baltimore.
Norm Cash was a funny guy, had to bat in the last inning against Nolan Ryan, throwing a no-hitter, maybe Koufax. Came up to the plate with a table leg, said he couldn't hit Ryan that day with a bat.
|Mar-25-14|| ||Jim Bartle: Very difficult to say who the best quarterback is, or was, especially with the rule changes through the years. Some of the best were Staubach, Unitas, Montana, Young, Elway, Marino, Fouts, Favre, Kelly, Aikman. Manning and Brady among today's QBs, maybe Brees as well.|
|Mar-25-14|| ||KKDEREK: Here, I'm 99% sure people would give an edge for Montana..As far as I read and saw (videos), that guys was from the other planet..|
|Mar-25-14|| ||Jim Bartle: OK, Montana was on my team, the 49ers, so it's hard to judge. He was brilliant, of course, and never got nervous, but he also had a great offensive in Walsh and great receivers like Rice, Clark and Craig. It's hard to judge. |
In my opinion, in the same period, late 80s, Marino was a little better.
|Mar-25-14|| ||KKDEREK: I really like football. And I love history (not just at sports). I will check more about american football. I have seen some nice docs .Check this one, got me impressed.|
|Mar-25-14|| ||Jim Bartle: Yes, concussions are a big problem in American football. They are causing a lot of damage, especially later in life. At least three have committed suicide around the age of 45 or 50. |
But big hitting is a key part of the game, so the challenge is to have hitting while still protecting the players.
|Mar-25-14|| ||OhioChessFan: Steve Young. Joe Montana with running skills.|
|Mar-26-14|| ||KKDEREK: Nice call <ohio>.|
|Apr-04-14|| ||KKDEREK: I'm surprised..

Not in soccer at least. I myself, would never bet against my team, because I really love them, but problme is, he very often suck. lol So, I just bet in something else. If we switch for your field, poker, well, is tough to control your chances 100% especially after some drinks. I guess maybe that's why I will never became a pro. :o)
|Apr-07-14|| ||perfidious: <KKDEREK> Luck is that good old X Factor, but without it, the same very few people would get the money every time.|

|Apr-20-14|| ||perfidious: <KKDEREK <Conrad: You like to talk about yourself quite often.
Are you a narcissist?>
At least he have <lots> of things (chesswise) to talk about..>
The best one can do is try. There is far more to life than chess and poker, even for a non-football fan like me. (wink)
<But you don't. You just throw us silly statements based on stupid conclusions.>
Pity this is the case; as for me, I would have no desire to waste time on a website trying to wind people up in this way.
|Apr-21-14|| ||KKDEREK: That kid is crazy (I'm sure hes very young). But I should not bother myself that much with his trolling..|
|Apr-21-14|| ||KKDEREK: And btw, when I said "<at least>" I didn't meant that I agree with him that you are a narcissist..Just my bad English. ;o)|
|Apr-21-14|| ||perfidious: <KKDEREK> Your English is far better than my Portuguese.....|

Yeah, I got you, sometimes I make post fast, from the cellphone, don't have the time to proper correct (or patience), but you are a little over here..
I'm here about ten years and the only ones who got a beef on that matter was 2 trolls who did that to basically attack me, not because they care for english grammar.. The only serious, or shall we say goodwill person that got bothered so far is you..So I will try to police myself, but to be honest I will not worry about that too much, especially because, as you said, you understood very well what I 'tried' to say.
