Gonna wait until the last possible moment and wager and affect the outcome. =))

Penguincw: Exactly what I'm hoping for. :) Hopefully that bet can set the record for most cbs wagered in a preseason leg (the unofficial record is 5206 cbs, by <wordfunph> with his "Fall Leg Champion" bet).

I'm probably going to open up some more bets than originally planned so that skilled preseason bettors (like me) can try to get their max. bet to 300 (not saying whether or not I'm betting on that). Hopefully I'm not missing the real point of the preseason. :)

Jul-07-15  centralfiles: <<centralfiles>: Congrats for winning the Spring Leg of Bookie! For quite a while it looked like <Chnebelgrind> was going t>o win it> Thanks.

To be frank <chnel> simply pulled out early and mightv'e won had he stayed in, he's a chessbookie champion as Switch has previously mentioned.

<The winner of the 2015 Spring ChessBookie! contest is

<centralfiles> with 20,498 chess bucks.

All of the runners-up qualify for the championship leg starting in January:>

I remember the good old days when the winner also got to Qualify and some other goodies thrown in too...

Penguincw: FTR: The first bet of the preseason has paid off. The Cubs upset St. Louis, and many people (including me) are not happy. :( I have to say though, it's pretty nerve racking paying off a bet, even though the results are right in front of you.

BTW: I find it cool how whenever I payoff a bet, I see all the amounts and what people bet on, just not who bet on it. :p

Anyway, good night folks, thanks all for your interest. And if anyone can find out when the All Star Final Vote winners will be <announced>, that would be nice. :)

Chessgames Bookie: Wow, this is pretty cool. Hi mom! I'm on TV (I mean <cg>, which rhymes). :)

Alright, all seriousness now. Here are some updates about the preseason:

Regarding Dutch Championship: Giri Special. I intentionally left it open 4 hours after the game has started. I was hoping the game would finish before that, and see the bettors try to crush the odds. :) Unfortunately, that game is a roller coaster.

But I would like to thank you all for getting my messages ("There are no errors in this bet", "Be sharp", and also the fact that I got the opening bet time right) and not mentioning it (those who were astute enough to notice, congrats). Remember, this is the preseason! It doesn't need to be all serious. :)

Uh, some people are liking the baseball bets, so I've added some more:

MLB: TOR @ CWS

MLB: LAA @ SEA

Do you think you can predict the lottery numbers? If so, try this:

Exotic: Lottery Numbers

I'm also watching Wimbledon to see if there are any interesting potential semifinal matchups, so look for that.

I do have 2 other bets planned (which I'll follow through on), but I think this is enough for a preseason. Of course, if there's something you really want to have for a preseason bet, say it. :)

Chessgames Bookie: Time for a peek at my life outside <cg> (after this bet, pretend I never said anything as I don't want to regret revealing some personal info, although I do want to see who people like the most ;) ):

Friendly Tournament: WINNER (which came first: the post, or the bet? ;) )

Anyway, pretend I have invited my 5 of my real life friends over for a chess tournament. Their names are Allan, Brian, Caleb, David and Eric. Here's what's going to happen:

- One of them I'll treat as "withdraws before the tournament" (because I never actually met a person with that name).

- One of them I'll treat as "does not show up for R1" (because I haven't seen them for a long time).

- Two of them will tie for 1st, the other loses.

<In other words>: 2 of them will have their tickets refunded (at different itmes), two of them will pay, and one of them will lose.

Good luck figuring it out! :p

Jul-08-15  Nightranger: <Hey Mr. Chessgames Bookie <Penguincw>> sir, I have a question. SInce you described the atmospheric conditions for the coin flip and then indicated the flip would take place indoors, I am curious if the door(s) or window(s), some or all, are going to be open?

And I guess this answers <Wannabe's> question. 2

WannaBe: If the windows are open, there are screens on the windows? Or is it open air? Or is it Venetian blinds? Are they horizontal or vertical?

If the doors are open, is it French door? Will both be open or just one? =))

Jul-08-15

  Chessgames Bookie: <Nightranger>

Right now (Wed, 14:15) it's hot, so I have 2 windows open, which are approx. 3 m from the actual flipping (the windows are from the W direction). The windows however are covered in this window screen (for windows). No doors are open.

The window opening is (approx.) 30 cm high and 12 cm wide.

Hope this helps! :)

(I hope you people aren't trying to stalk me)

WannaBe: Off to a great "Pre-Season".

Discard, discard, discard, discard...

While I'm pretty sure winner got a year membership plus qualification, the simple reading of the post was winner gets zilch...

Penguincw: Grr. I just remembered why I don't do last minute betting. I was just about to wager 5 on "43 - 49" (the would be <winning> line, since the bonus is 48), when time ran out. :| This is a hard preseason, and this is coming from someone who is <running> it. :| Not sure if I'm a great bookie, or terrible bettor (probably the latter).

So thankful I'm not playing in the Summer Leg. :)

Just a reminder that the PHI-LAD bet will be settled in the morning, when I wake up. :)

P.S. Go Dodgers!

eternaloptimist: <centralfiles>: U r welcome! I also noticed that <Chnel> stopped betting after he got above 12,000 c$. I agree he possibly could've won if he would've kept on betting. Anyway it's still a job well done on your part. I failed yet again to finish in the top 10. A few years ago I was in 10th place close to the end of the leg & a week or 2 before it ended a couple of guys or so passed me. I wasn't able to pass them to get back in the top 10. In this past leg I got up to 17th place w/ only 3 or so weeks left. Good luck to u in the future in Bookie & especially in the upcoming Championship Leg! Wish me luck in this leg (since even my optimism is starting to wane :D )! I will probably need it.

Chessgames Bookie: < Re: TOR/CHW no score top 5, (in game bet??) >

Yes, it was an in-game bet (should've explicitly said that). I wanted to do a Blue Jays game bet, but this matchup isn't interesting outside the 2 fan bases (but it is the MLB Free Game of the Day).

On a side note, I see there are a lot of interesting matchups tomorrow (ex. Chicago vs. Chicago, NYY-BOS, etc.). I'm not going to open bets on those, but if you wish to bet on those, try this: https://www.marathonbet.com/en/bett... (games coming soon).

UPDATE: The Blue Jays lose (double frown). Despite the fact that more money was placed on CWS, there were more backers for TOR.

Chessgames Bookie: A couple for more updates:

Also, regarding Friendly Tournament: WINNER, about 24 hours before the lines close, and all tickets for "Caleb" are being refunded. I never actually had a friend named Caleb, and just put it there for the purpose of it being in alphabetical order. :)

In other news, I just flipped an American penny, and it landed with the side with the Lincoln... Memorial, so tails is the winner! FTR: The conditions are 21°C (feeling like 24) with the wind from the SW at 21 km/h, humidity 56%, 102.0kPA, 16 km visibility and unlimited ceiling (sorry, not going to convert that). :)

I will soon perform those actions.

Lastly, in case you haven't figured it out, this preseason is going to end tomorrow, shortly after Exotic: Even Odds closes.

- Penguin

P.S. Does anyone know when the All Star Final Vote winners are going to be announced? :p If they're not timely, I may have to refund them.

Annie K.: The ceiling is usually about 2.70m high.

I have no idea why anybody would ever want to name their child Caleb. It means 'dog'. :s

I'm outdoors (j/k, I'm indoors, but not sure how TWN said the ceiling is unlimited). :)

< I have no idea why anybody would ever want to name their child Caleb. It means 'dog'. :s >

Yeah, that was like a dead giveaway. :p The next refunded bet should be one too...
