 | | Tabanus: <Annie> For completeness I could make a batch also for Corus Reserve Group 2001 (42 players, 21 x 9 = 189 games). Not sure if it's worth the effort, and nine of the players are rated below 2000, with the risk of rejection. (The highest rated is 2581.) Would you take it in? |
|
Mar-18-19
 | | Tabanus: Never mind. I'll prepare a file with CG's player name spellings and send it in, and you take it or leave it. <CG> or <Annie> Add rd. 9 games to Prague Chess Festival (Challengers) (2019) |
|
Mar-18-19
 | | Annie K.: Sure, send it in. :) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<mifralu> Thank you so much for this invaluable resource http://publ.lib.ru/ARCHIVES/SH/''Sh... . |
|
Mar-19-19 | | zanzibar: Yes, <mifralu>'s link is quite useful. The language barrier is daunting though. It's nice that they typically use OCR. |
|
Mar-19-19
 | | Annie K.: <Tab> your Corus games are up now at Corus Reserve Group (2001), except the Brodsky games which were already in the database at Corus reserve op (2001). Note to editors who are experienced uploaders - <Jess, Tab, MissS, Phony, etc.> - feel free to submit more than one game at a time through the PGN Upload Utility. :) I wouldn't want everybody to start doing that, but if you know what you're doing, and have run through your games through a program to make sure there are no notation errors, I will accept your multiple game submissions. |
|

 | | MissScarlett: What abooot the correction slips? |
|
Mar-19-19
 | | Annie K.: I try to do a few here and there, but I want to get some upload backlog out of the way right now. Then I'll be back to the slips again... Anything particularly urgent, feel free to post about here. :) |
|
Mar-19-19
 | | Tabanus: Thanks <Annie>! I suppose I still have to add the games one by one to Game Collection: Corus Reserve Group 2001. And nominate with the already existing name Corus Reserve Group (2001)? |
|
Mar-19-19
 | | MissScarlett: Where’s Sargon? Where’s the extra staff? |
|
Mar-19-19
 | | Annie K.: <Tab> wait with that - I'll see if I can ask Sargon to take the time to turn Corus Reserve Group (2001) directly into a kibitzable event with crosstable, and save you the work. Meanwhile, I'll transfer the Brodsky games. :) |
|
Mar-19-19
 | | Annie K.: <MissS> everybody has plenty to do, don't worry. ;) |
|
Mar-19-19
 | | MissScarlett: How many bodies are there? |
|
Mar-19-19
 | | Annie K.: Sorry, that's confidential information. I could tell you, but, you know... ;) |

 | | Phony Benoni: So what's the current practice on events held in more than one city? I'm updating the information on the Showalter -Whitaker match of 1916, and the locations are as follows: Games 1-3: Lexington, KY
Games 4-6: Georgetown, KY
Game 7: Lexington, KY |
|
Mar-19-19
 | | Tabanus: <Annie> Sounds good. I can copy over the xtab etc. afterwards. <PB> The location of the <game> of course. As Site. But I know of at least one who doesn't agree. |
|
Mar-19-19
 | | Phony Benoni: <Tabanus> Yes, that is the obvious course, and I'll do it. But I appreciate the problems caused if the event is to become a tournament page. |
|
Mar-19-19 | | zanzibar: No, it's location abuse.
But CG is a good location in that sense.
(You break all other database software, but <CG> is its own universe, so who cares?) |
|
Mar-19-19 | | zanzibar: BTW- for the record...
Handling multiple site tournaments correctly (i.e. in a commonsense fashion, recognizing the benefits of cooperating with SCID/ChessBase software) is trivially easy. It's an area where <CG> could be both a good member of the community, and improve the standard. But before it can be better than everybody else, it first has to be "as good". Well, back to Filadelphia. |

 | | Tabanus: <Annie> the Prague Chess Festival (Open) (2019) is not the Prague <Festival> Open which recently concluded. It is the Prague Open in January. http://chess-results.com/tnr405577...., not http://chess-results.com/tnr420762.... |
|
Mar-19-19 | | zanzibar: I'd be interested in anyone could be so kind as to generate a screenshot (or text copy) of a ChessBase xtab for the following tournament: Tata Steel Masters (2019) . |
|
Mar-19-19 | | zanzibar: Oh yeah, thanks in advance. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<z> What is the method to make a more globally compatible site header? In the case of <PB and J>, what would be best practice to enter his information into the site field on a pgn? <Games 1-3: Lexington, KY
Games 4-6: Georgetown, KY
Game 7: Lexington, KY>
Let's say the game in question is game 2 (played in Lexington, KY). [Site "?" ]
Something like this?
[Site "Lexington, KY/Georgetown, KY/Lexington, KY"] There must be another way amirite or how else would we know which city a particular round was played in, on a given game's pgn? Might you show an example of what you mean by filling in a sample site field based on <PB and J's> example? [Site "?" ] |
|
Mar-20-19 | | zanzibar: <jfq> It's the usual central point of keeping a tournament normalized. The PGN has to have the same Event/Site/EventDate tags for all "tournament" games. (With "tournament" being whatever subset of games generate a meaningful xtab/) That's really the only feature I insist upon, there's plenty of room to maneuver within that constraint. E.g. your list is pretty good, showing a few of the options, thoughI'd go with a more compact notation: < [Site "Lexington/Georgetown, KY USA"] > (Remembering what I thought was <CG>'s insistence on country code) You pointed out that the round info could be embedded, which I would do as follows: < [Site "Lexington(R1-3,7)/Georgetown(R4-6), KY USA"] > . |
