Jul-25-11  Blunderdome: Last round starts 5 hours early, or now.
Jul-25-11  Blunderdome: 1. e4 g6 in both Amin - Gashimov and Ganguly - Svidler.
Jul-26-11  Blunderdome: First result in is Radjabov - Adly 1-0. I believe this gives Teimour a performance rating over 2800.
Jul-26-11  ARMENIA: Armenia won the Gold!

gold gold gold

Jul-26-11  ARMENIA: Akopian and Sargissian were winning but for the sake of Gold, draw was agreed on all boards!

Congratulation my little Armenia!

The cheers of your sons and daughters may be heard all over your vast land!

One day the Turks will pay through the nose but till then, lets enjoy our victory!

Jul-26-11  plimko: Whychess don't cover the last round, why?
Jul-26-11  Hovik2009: Long Live Armenia, we are the CHAMPIONS!!

Azeris, you could start eating your heart now!

<plimko: Whychess don't cover the last round, why?> because they are bunch of modern and new-wave armenophobes!

Jul-26-11  arsen387: GREAT! We are champions AGAIN!! It's cool how before every competition many 'experts' say that Armenian team's time already passed, we have an old team, weak 5th board, etc, but every time (except maybe for 2010 Olympiad) our guys just do magic and show that team competitions are won by TEAMS, not just strong individuals. Congratulation!

And every time our team wins a medal, I remember Karen Asrian, may he rest in peace!

<Hovik: Azeris, you could start eating your heart now! > lol, but I think they'll again say that we've won with the help of Russia, or maybe even Russian team was playing instead of us :)

Jul-26-11  kevinatcausa: A last round win over Mamedyarov to go with his first round win over Areshchenko, and both with black to boot.

Not a bad set of bookends for IM Shoker!

Jul-26-11  plimko: Finally live games from the last round from Whychess

Jul-26-11  Ladolcevita: <ARMENIA>
Indeed,congrats to Armenia!
And also to my country for winning the silver, thats so very remarkable too:) And to all the other teams for well-fought games~~
Jul-26-11  bharatiy: Russia is going down against India without Anand!
Jul-26-11  bharatiy: Sasi messed up, I guess.
Jul-26-11  ARMENIA: Ladies and Gentleman please rise and remove your caps:

3. Ukraine

Jul-26-11  bharatiy: nice win by Sasi
Jul-26-11  Nietzowitsch: Was erlauben Svidler?
Jul-26-11  supertimchan: This is very and very disappointing results for Russia. Without Kramnik, the whole team just collapsed. How could they lose to India without Anand...
Jul-26-11  nolanryan: nice comeback China! Hopefully China will continue to generate talented players.

Way to go Seirawan, who first got me excited about chess through his Winning... series

Jul-26-11  s4life: China lost the gold against.. Israel?? it was a great comeback nonetheless... oh yeah congrats to the armenian team.
Jul-26-11  adair10: Congrats to Armenia for taking gold! Amazing achievement for this small contry
Jul-27-11  fgh: Why hasn't ChessBase still published a report on the last two rounds?
Jul-27-11  polarmis: Some Russian reaction (from the team captain) to the event:

http://whychess.org/en/node/1079

In general there are/will be various "post-mortem" news stories at WhyChess in the coming days.

Jul-27-11  bronkenstein: Check the smile :

Jul-27-11  khursh: <fgh: Why hasn't ChessBase still published a report on the last two rounds?>

Before i was reading chessbase almost everyday. However now their coverage became unbelievably poor and biased. They have several 'favorites' and their coverage is very skewed towards them. There is a case when they reported gold medalist, bronze medalist and #s 4,5,6,7 and forgot to mention about who was the silver medalist.

Jul-27-11  dahtah: wow kamsky finally enters top ten on live ratings, toppling nakamura as u.s #1 player, congrats!
