Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-14-06  positionalbrilliancy: Impressive, +5 for Salome Melia and Tania Sachdev
Oct-14-06  samsal27: Good luck to Tania, Eesha, Mary Ann, Kruttika and P.Priya!
Oct-14-06  doremi: 12 or 13 year old Hou Yifan is the highest rated player at 2481, her tournament performance rating is slightly lower at 2465. With 1 round more to go, she is shared 2nd-7th half a point behind the leader Melia. Looks like Hou Yifan needs a little of a plateau before she again jumps up in leaps and bounds in the rating list.
Oct-14-06  CapablancaFan: Would Jessie Gilbert have been in this tournament or was she too old?
Oct-14-06  CrystalFrost: Samsal27 are you an Indian?? Where do you live??

I am too!!!!!

Oct-15-06  samsal27: <CrystalFrost> Yes, I am from Goa. Where are you from?

4 out of the top 5 boards in the 11th round feature Indians. I hope that we can get some medals!

Oct-15-06  Sourav: Hi samsal27, CrystalFrost, I too am from India (my name gives that away anyway) ... I too hope the Indian girls win. Maybe the Indian media would drop its step-motherly treatment towards chess.
Oct-15-06  CrystalFrost: <<<<Samsal27 & Sourav>>>> I am from Calcutta or Kolkata.

I think this time Indian girls has a huge chance of getting medals after the terrible performance of the men in the OLYMPIAD

Oct-15-06  samsal27: <I am from Calcutta or Kolkata.> Wonderful. Mary Ann Gomes from Kolkata unfortunately lost today.
Oct-15-06  samsal27: <Maybe the Indian media would drop its step-motherly treatment towards chess.> I hope so, Saurav!
Oct-15-06  samsal27: I think that Eesha and Harika who are both on 8/12 points and are placed 5th and 6th in the table after tiebreaks will be the best bets for a medal for India.- http://www.armchess.am/WJGCC06/wjgc...
Oct-16-06  chessmoron: Awesome. Those Chinese young birds are pretty good.
Oct-16-06  notyetagm: <chessmoron: Awesome. Those Chinese young birds are pretty good.>

Oct-17-06  samsal27: <Shen Yang and Hou Yifan took first and second in the final standing.. congrats to both of them for a fine tournament> Great performance by the Chinese. Kudos to them!
