Introduction
The annual meeting of the Yorkshire Chess Association has been held in York during the present week. The attendance was but somewhat thin, considering the value of the prizes and the great exertions which had been made by the committee on behalf of the association.
There were two class and a handicap. The entry for the first class though small, included some of the strongest English amateur players. The entries for the second class was better. The prize in the first class was of the value of £10, for which the competitors were the Rev. A. B. Skipworth, of Bilsdale; Rev. W. Waite (sic), Eton; Rev. C. E. Ranken, Oxford; and E. Thorold, Esq., Bath. (1)
Conclusion
A prize of £10 and a £50 Challenge Cup to the player who first twice wins the £10 prize. Mr. Skipworth and Mr. Thorold have now each one the first prize once, Mr. Thorold having won it last year. (2)
