Played in the De Moriaan community centre, Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands from January 15 (Round 1) to January 27 (Round 11), with rest days on January 18 and 23. In addition to teenager Werle and the other IM's and GM's, there were three female players: Stefanova, Zhaoqin Peng, and Skripchenko. The event was won by Krasenkow with 8/11.
