October, 1932. The first International Tournament celebrated in Mexico.

With the Great Depression at its height, it was a year of few major competitions. This is one of the least remembered tournaments of the 20th century and a "forgettable" event for the Mexicans, who failed to win a game against the two foreign stars. Organized by Cap. Araiza Munoz, a military man and 3rd place finisher, he would have loved to include the participation of Mexico's premier player, Carlos Torre, but that man had been retired due to a mental illness. However, the event left a deep imprint in the enthusiasts of that time and did much for the interest of the game in that country. This led to the organization of a second tournament held in 1934/35 won by Reuben Fine. It is a pity that only a handful of games from that event have survived.
