A Match Game of Chess by Telegraph.—This evening at 7 o'clock a telegraph match game of chess between the Philadelphia Chess Club and the Paulsen Chess Club, of New York, will be commenced at the office of the People's Telegraph Line, 411 Chestnut street, and will be continued every evening, Sundays excepted until completed. Mr. Merriherd the Manager of the Line, has placed two large commodious rooms at the disposal of the Committee of the Philadelphia Club, one of which will be used by the Committee, and the other will be open to Chess players generally, who may wish to witness the match. The Philadelphia Committee consists of Messrs. W. G. Thomas, James G. Whiteman and G. Reichhelm; and the Paulsen Committee of Messrs. E. Chamier, F. E. Brenzinger and W. S. Johnson. The Philadelphians selected Mr. Irving, and afterwards Col. Mead (President and ex-President of the New York Club,) as their umpires, but neither gentlemen being able to serve, Mr. M. J. Hazeltine was proposed and accepted, and will act as umpire. Dr. Lewis was selected by the Paulsen Committee as their umpire, but severe illness will prevent his acceptance of the post, and Mr. S. W. Walker has been appointed in his place.
