  1. The king as an extra piece
    Using the king in the endgame is an obvious, if difficult to learn skill. Games where the king takes an active part in deciding the course of the game make a powerful impression, and can be as instructive as they are beautiful. In particular, we wish to study king walks, where the king doesn't just skulk around in the corner and slowly getting into the scene of things, but actually insists upon itself with a display of majestic belligerence.
