Honza Cervenka: White has fallen on his own sword here. He managed to win an Exchange but black got bit too much for that in activity of his pieces, which allowed him to create two connected passed Pawns on the QS, which were in the end stronger than Rook. Very good game by Savon from his glorious "chevauchée" through the field of 1971 Soviet Championship.
Jan-02-22  jerseybob: Very subtle play by black. After 15.a3, slightly weakening the white q-side, black's moves Bd4 and Ne5, preventing the bishop from getting back to g7, allow white to "trap" the black rook with his bishops. But at what price? At first, black's comp for the exchange is one pawn after 22..Nxa3. Some loose defensive play by white gives black 2 q-side passers and after 30..b4 the black juggernaut is set to roll. Then white fights back and with 44.e5 it seems the tide has turned. But the miracle move 45..Ne4! followed by 46..Qxe5 saves the day due to the unprotected white queen. And delaying e5 with the queen-protecting move 44.Kf1 runs into 44..Nxe4!
