Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-25-04  DanielBryant: What did Maroczy expect, playing a second move like Be2?
Nov-05-04  dickweed: Exactly why does white surrender here? I fail to see the imediate threat
Nov-05-04  Morphystyle: White will lose a piece or two or get mated. For example Qe3 Ng5, Kh1 Qf2 with multiple threats which can not be met. The magnitude of black's threats are not easily seen until a few moves later
Jul-22-05  lentil: seems like W defends with 21. Bxh7+ Kxh7 22. Qd3 and 23. Qg3, forcing off the Queens. W remains a pawn down, but I see no reason to quit.
Jul-22-05  aw1988: <lentil> 21. Bxh7+ Kxh7 22. Qd3+ g6 23. Qg3 Qh5!
Apr-21-06  ChessDude33: After 2...Nf6 Can't this become a reversed petrov defense or reversed ruy lopez closed with an extra tempo?

jessicafischerqueen: This game is incorrectly listed as a Match game = it is not.

This was a casual game played at the Budapest Chess Club.

Nov-01-10  elohah: On 19 Kxg2 Qg5+! 20 Qxg5 Rxe2+! wins.
Nov-01-10  parisattack: <DanielBryant: What did Maroczy expect, playing a second move like Be2? >

White can't get too loose against the open defenses...his initiative is probably smaller against them than against any of the semi-opens.
