Sep-16-04  OneArmedScissor: I can't believe Larsen didn't see 39. Rc8

Was this a blitz game?

Sep-16-04  Knezh: After 38.Rxc3 black's position is not defendable. White threatens both 39. Rc7 and 39. Qh5 with mating threats. eg. 38. ..Rd8 39. Rc7 and black cannot avoid mate in all variations. 38 ..Rxa2 is just being a spoilsport and giving away the queen.

Honza Cervenka: <Was this a blitz game?> Yes.
May-19-05  woodenbishop: Outstanding play by Tal. I found this game to be highly entertaining, especially since both players were past their prime... Tal clearly shows he is still, even in old age, capable of causing damage.
Jun-22-12  Mudphudder: Tal may have not been world champ in the 1980s but I would argue that his tactical sacrifices were much more sound than in his younger days. His tactical sacrifices were impressive early on but a lot of them were offbeat and many were even refutable. But in his later days, his play was much more solid and because of that his sacrifices were even more impressive & dangerous when you analyze the game as a whole.
Jun-27-15  thegoodanarchist: <woodenbishop: ... Tal clearly shows he is still, even in old age, capable of causing damage.>

Larsen was a year older than Tal.

Sep-24-16  ZonszeinP: In spite of Larsen's mistake, there's no doubt that Tal was winning
