Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-30-07  Orion Sphere: Was playing against crafty as white this line up to 11. ...Bd7 where I played 12. Nbd2. Came to see how Kasparov deals with this opening, he shuts off the b7 bishop with d5 which is understandable. Interesting to see how Kasparov lashes out with his pawns, d5, a4, c4, g4 annexing space, then trades the bishop for a knight in a closed position and winds up mating black with greater activity on the kingside after opening it up with the help of the pin on f7. Also notable is how Kasparov is allowed to put his queen on the active d5 square putting pressure on black's queenside pawn chain and creating the pin on f7 while the white d6 pawn threatens to promote and the rook on e1 threatens to win material along the e file. Kasparov also demonstrates some nice knight manoeuvring in this game. Kasparov chose to open the e-file in this game, which is where the f-rook usually develops to in Ruy Lopez. Not only did this increase the scope of the rook but it created the passed pawn on d5. Nice one Kasparov!
Feb-01-08  Marmot PFL: I don't like closing the queen side with 16... b4, which reduces black's counterplay to zero.
Feb-01-08  Shams: yeah, it's a shame Garry didn't play more rapid. he mentioned when he retired that he might come back for rapid tournaments. man, that would be fun to watch. I agree with <Marmot PFL>, 16...b4? is ugly.
Sep-08-13  victor antoni: kasparov te juego de acuerdo al rival.. como lasker... y es muy creativo en su juego por eso lo considero un patron mental en mi vida.... grande kasparov... y gracias por tus enseƑanzas..
