Feb-25-24  catlover: I like the pun and the game. I'm sure Lincoln Maiztegui Casas remembered this game for a long time.

Instead of 12...Bg6, maybe 12...Nxc2+ 13. Kd1 Qd7, 14. Qxd7+ Kxd7, 15. Rb1 and black looks a lot better than in the game.

FSR: Fun game, although Black's play left something to be desired. The Fried Liver is already close to +-. (I'll be playing both sides of it in a thematic correspondence tournament. I'll let you know what I find out.) Giving it to White with the extra move d4 is ill-advised.
Feb-25-24  goodevans: I've only ever played the Fried Liver Attack as White. Playing it as Black requires a degree of masochism I don't possess.

Usually it's all about whether White can maintain the pressure to justify his N-sac or whether Black can fend off the assault to enjoy his material advantage. In this case the extra tempo White was gifted allowed him quickly to regain the sac'd N whilst still having the attack. You'd think Black wouldn't stand a chance.

After 11...Bf5?! White gave him that chance:

White has a lot of good moves to choose from here. I'd have picked 12.Bxb7 threatening both 13.Bxa8 and 13.Qd5+ Ke7 14.Bg5+. Black can't stop both.

Instead White chose <12.b3?>. This carries one threat, 13.Ba3+, and the obvious way to stop that is <12...Nxc2+>. Follow that up with <13...Qd7> and White simply no longer has an attack. Black is a pawn up and White has absolutely nothing to show for it.

Bellido missed his big chance and Lincoln drove home the victory without further departures from the course.

Feb-25-24  lentil: I got my liver fried in my first rated game!
