al wazir: 13. Bc4 is a move most patzers would be ashamed of. What was Gunsberg thinking?

Honza Cervenka: <13. Bc4 is a move most patzers would be ashamed of. What was Gunsberg thinking?> I don't know whether the gamescore is given as complete but he could have in mind something like 14.Qd6+ Qxd6 15.Nxd6 Na4 16.Nxf7 Na5 17.Nxh8 Nxc4 18.b3. The problem is that after 14...Kg8! he has no satisfactory line as after 15.Qxd8+ Nxd8 16.Ne7+ Kf8 17.Nxc8 Rxc8 the Bishop on c4 is hanging and so black remains a piece up.

al wazir: <Honza>: Thanks. So there was a point to the move, even if it was flawed.

louispaulsen88888888: I could be wrong, but I think this game is in Blackburne’s Chess Games (Dover book). Which is a fun book. Must be out of print, though.
