<Dionyseus> Although Kasparov can't be considered the best rapid player, he is a very good one. For example, Kramnik has advantage over kasparov in classical games, but, if you consider rapid and blitz games, Kasparov is better than Kramnik, I mean, at least against him. |

Kasparov's results against Karpov were better when he got closer to his peak, even if it's of course undeniable that Karpov was an extremely strong player. |

Karpov was already 40 y.o.... but even then, in their last two matches (1987, 1990), Kasparov could only get a +1 score in 48 games, hardly different to their overall result from their first 2 matches (when Kasparov was younger than 25).
Anyway, Kasparov has always had enormous trouble facing players like Karpov and Kramnik... it must their style. I think if Karpov would've had the youth of Kramnik or the stamina of Topalov, he would have been hailed as the best player of all times instead. |

And Karpov may be the second best player ever so he's no easy opponent anyway. Karpov won the first 6 decisive games he played against Kasparov, after that it's +7 for Kasparov in classical games which isn't that much anyway considering how many games they've played. |
