  al wazir: 23...Qb5 threatens 24...Re2, followed by 25...Rcc2, seizing control of the second rank. White has no resources, but in Mannheimer's place I would have played on a few more moves. The game might have continued 24. Kh1 Re2 25. a4 (another possibility is Rc1) Qd3 (25...Rcc2 26. Qh4 Rxh2+ 27. Qxh2 Rxh2+ 28. Kxh2 Qe2+ 29. Kh1/Kh3 Nf2+, winning) 26. Rd1 Rcc2 27. Qh4 Rxh2+ 28. Qxh2 Rxh2+ 29. Kxh2 Qe2+ 30. Kh1/Kh3 Nf2+. There are several possibilities for black to go wrong. Nobody ever swindled an opponent by resigning.
