Oct-20-05  Autoreparaturwerkbau: This game sure is a fabrication.
Oct-20-05  ughaibu: It's odd that white plays a Bloodgood opening.

Sneaky: Actually Humphrey Bogart played this opening, I think it's called the Gibbins-Weidenhagen gambit.

I tried it for a while myself. I decided in the end that it's one of those openings that you don't see very often, because it stinks.

Oct-20-05  ughaibu: Thanks Sneaky, I guess until disproven I'l take Bloodgood's word for it.
Jan-04-07  tatarch: Bogart was an excellent chess player--if he played this game, then he was drunk and\or not paying attention.

FSR: 18...Qxc3 was simpler than the flashy 18...Rxb2+. In the final position, my initial thought was that White should play on with 22.Rdg1 -- but now I see that Black has an easy win with 22...Nxa2+ 23.Kd1 Qa1+ 24.Ke2 Nc3+ and White has to allow Black to take his queen with check.
Jan-01-11  thegoodanarchist: Yeah FSR I was going to say the same thing...
