Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-12-05  lululass: Don't you think White could have won if he had played it out?
Dec-12-05  Averageguy: <lululass> After 52.Kxg3 white is down a pawn in a simplified pawn endgame, and is most certainly losing. Black will use his h-pawn to distract the white king, while the black king takes the white d-pawn and rushes the c-pawn through to promotion. Welcolme to the site BTW, however I think that if you are a 1300 rated player then tactics and middlegame and endgame knowledge is more important that opening theory. This site will help you in in those areas too.
Dec-21-05  olaf4lena: Welcome <lululass>, I am a dreadful amateur, Class D, working towards Class C.

One year here and some casual reading and practice in my VERY busy schedule has raised my rating about 120 pts.

Average guy is right on this, though. Don't get hung up on always shifting openings like I did. Pick One to focus on as white and a defense for black from 1. e4 and 1. d4. Then take the luxury of NOT learning opening to sharpen tactics and endgame work.

Enjoy!

Dec-21-05  olaf4lena: Speaking of tactics, watch how Aronian exploits white's overworked queen!
