An Englishman: Good Evening: The Von Hennig-Schara Gambit is not likely to come back from the grave of highly speculative Black gambits that have been refuted, which is a shame. Games like this are awfully fun for Black to play.
Sep-11-08  mikhs: This game is the exact duplicate of Gagunashvili vs Bruno De Baenst, 2004. The only difference is that here Mailhe resigned a couple of moves earlier.

SteinitzLives: 18. h3 looks like the losing move, why chase the black g4 N to sac land, and open the c8-h2 diagonal which the black B uses.

I still think that for the sub 2500 set (which would be 99.99% of us or more) this opening ought to be played by black more often, it's too much fun to ignore. Who among us really thinks we are too high quality a player to play fun openings that the 2500+ set all .01% of them, ignore?

Ah, the dillusional arrogance of the fish!

  bright1: In the final position, can't White play 25. Ke1 ?
Oct-29-11  Rrrto2005: 25. Ke1 Rxd1+ 26. Rxd1 Qxf2+ Kxb2 27. Bxd1 i think

bright1: <Rrrto2005> Yea, I thought after 25. Ke1 Rxd1+ 26. Rxd1 Qxf2+ 27. Kxf2 Bxd1 then White can play 28. g3 and trap the bishop on h2. The problem is that White will still be two pawns down after Bxg3 so I don't think the endgame can be held.
Apr-18-21  magic1949: A5 move 10 If white moves his QN then Qb6 is a problem if he plays e3 then the QB can only get to d2 and Qb6 is still a nuisance. Black’s rooks quickly take over the central files.

14…Ne5 immediately looks to be an improvement – white still has a pawn and is theoretically better.

White should have played 15. Rd1. The game move 15 b4? would give black at least an = game after 15...Ne5.

14 …Bc7 gives the initiative back to white.

17.Rd1? wrong rook.

White goes at the end 23.Rd5 is safe and even 23.QxQ is OK 23. Bxc3 ?? is the decisive blunder

after 23....Bb5+ if instead 24.Rd3 then Bxd3+ 25.Be2 Bxe2+ 26.Ke1 Qxc3+ 27.Kxe2 Qd3+ 28.Ke1 Re8+ 29.Qe3 Bg3#
