Richard Taylor: Nathan missed at least one win...possibly 2. I have trouble getting a good position versus this opening of his.

I started o.k. then lost track of what I was doing... so by the middle game I didn't have a good position at all.

fredthebear: White is a playing the double fianchetto Hippopotamus that places pawns on b3, e3, d3, and g3. It is passive, if not cramped, but flexible.

Aaron Nimzowitsch played the White Hippo some in the 1920s.

IM Maximillian Ujtelky (1915-1979) played it many times with either color, including against Boris Spassky.

Boris Spassky played it a few times, notably against Tigran Petrosian during the 1966 World Championship match.

FTB plays it once in a great while at the CC in casual games, just for a different look against my comrades and frenemies.
