Penguincw: Not sure if L'Ami lost trying too hard to win, or simply miscalculated. Looks to be the latter, as he underestimated the value of black's b-pawn vs. his a-pawn.
Mar-18-15  Marmot PFL: The game seems about even, but with 24 Bxc5?! white is hoping his passed pawn with be better than black's. Things don't work out as planned however.
Mar-18-15  druukee: how many people would have guessed Black's 15th move? Then 16.Ne5 might be exactly the wrong response, as Black plays cxd, another surprising (to me) move.
Mar-21-15  laskerdog: That bishop on d5 was A mighty one
Oct-10-15  Howard: Keep in mind that this game was played in the last round, when L'Ami had already clinched clear first (He was leading the pack by 1.5 points going into the last round.).

Thus, he probably lowered his guard a bit here.

That's exactly what surprised me, too. I think maybe it was a trap. If 17. Bxd4 Nxe5! 18. Bxh7 Nxd3 wins the exchange and the initiative because the Rook on a1 is under attack, so black can follow up with Qd5 and a heavy duty assault.
