An Englishman: Good Morning: And good heavens--this looks like the most berserk game in a berserk first round.
Mar-31-18  Hodor: <berserk>

Named after a group of Norse warriors who would work themselves into a frenzy before battle and <fight with reckless savagery and insane fury.>

Used today to describe a person acting in an <insanely violent manner.>

That's not quite correct, Hodor. "Berserk" comes from "bare sark", sark being the chest in old Norse. It was believed that the only way to reach Valhalla was through a glorious death in battle, so vikings went into battle topless ("bare sark") to increase their chance of dying and thus getting to Valhalla. It changed to "berserk" over time when it was Anglosized.

Apr-01-18  Everett: <Muttley101>

I'm guessing your interpretation is not quite correct either. To say "bare sark" likely meant pretty close to what we consider "berserk" to mean nowadays, since word couplets and phrases usually point to implied and embedded meanings right from the start. Change in pronunciation or spelling simply obfuscates this very natural way humans have always used language.

Unless you think "upstream without a paddle" literally meant just that, and not an endeavor that describes something more, eh?

But who knows. You may have a couple of screws loose. Or the elevator may not go all the way to the top, or the lights are on and no one is home.
