Apr-04-18  Ceri: Black resigns?
Apr-04-18  whooops: white has to keep control of the a8-h1 diagonal. Otherwise, it can be quickly a draw.

Check It Out: 41.Qb7 protects the white king from checks and threatens mayhem by taking f7 with check. Naiditsch is in a ditch.
Apr-04-18  DrGridlock: Naiditsch is indeed in a deep, deep ditch.

Probably his best defense is to jettison his knight, but that's tantamount to resigning - which is also a possibility in this position.

Apr-04-18  Ceri: Qd5 and Black is gone.

Check It Out: And to think, moments ago kibitzers were yawning and getting rice and chicken.

FSR: Yeah, I predict "Resigns" right after Caruana's 42nd move.

chancho: Naidistch has fallen into a ditch and Caruana has the shovel at the ready....
Apr-04-18  tigreton: From now on Naiditsch will think twice before capturing pawns far from his king
Apr-04-18  chessdgc2: Black’s goose is cooked....get out the bugle
Apr-04-18  tigreton: The knight on b2 not only does nothing, but it's also a willing victim to double attacks
Apr-04-18  ChessHigherCat: <Check It Out: And to think, moments ago kibitzers were yawning and getting rice and chicken.>

Just got back. Things have heated up?

Apr-04-18  DrGridlock: Black can hustle his queen back to the kingside via Qc6+ and Qg6, but then Qe5+ picks up the black knight.
Apr-04-18  ChessHigherCat: Well, black has an extra outside passed pawn but on the other hand white has an unstoppable mating attack...
Apr-04-18  whiteshark: A clear message by Fabiano

Domdaniel: Heh. Did I not say that Caruana would play on and win? No need here for excessive Sitzfleisch.

moronovich: Also in the postmortem does Caruana sound impressing. My best bet is, that we are in for a great match in november.

chancho: Carlsen will have to bring his very best if he hopes to retain his crown.

Otherwise he joins the list of former champs.

Apr-04-18  chessdgc2: If Caruana wins this event, I’d be willing to bet he will beat Carlsen in their coming match. Chessgames.com: Thanks for the cast! See you guys tomorrow[
Apr-04-18  ChessHigherCat: I'd like to see the postmorten. When I left black had an extra pawn and I didn't see an immediate attack but SF gave white +2.6 so I knew there must be something abreast (besides my chicken breast)

Domdaniel: <chancho> I agree. Caruana seems to be growing stronger by the day, while Carlsen is no longer as invulnerable as he was.
