Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-17-19  patzer2: Perhaps 35. Rxf7+! would make for a good
Monday puzzle.

It's sort of a true of false question (i.e. Is 35. Rxf7+ correct?), since the only alternative is 35. Kxf5? which loses to a simple removing the guard tactic (i.e. 35. Kxf5? Rg5+ 36. Kf4 Kxf6 -+).

Sep-17-19  patzer2: So's 9. Qb3 might be a novelty, as it doesn't appear in our Opening Explorer.

Black's reply 9...Qb6, offering an immediate trade of Queens, appears to be a mistake as 10. Qxb6 Nxb6 11. Bxf6 gxf6 ± (+0.83 @ 33 ply, Stockfish 10) creates weak, isolated pawns for White to target.

Instead, 9...h6 10. Bf4 Qb6 = (+0.09 @ 35 ply, Stockfish 10) delays the Queen exchange offer for one move and avoids the isolated pawns which So masterfully exploited to win this game.

  FSR: As <patzer2> notes, 9...h6! is superior to Demchenko's 9...Qb6. After 9...h6, 10.Bxf6 Nxf6 11.Qxb7 Rb8 12.Qxa6 Ra8 13.Qxc6+ Bd7 14.Qb7 Rb8 just leads to a draw by repetition.
