chrisowen: I q pug core v us dj x myth its link hxg3 its a bath latch its dub :)
Dec-03-23  King.Arthur.Brazil: I guess that even playing very well, W would not survive: 42. Qd6+ Ka8 43. Qd8+ Rxd8 44. Rxc2 Rh8 45. Rfc1 gxf2+ 46. Kf1 Rh1+ 47. Ke2 Rxc1 48. Rxc1 b4 49. Rf1 Qc5 50. Bd8 d4 51. Rxf2 d3+ 52. Ke1 Qe3+ 53. Kf1 d2... The threat 43... Rh1+ 44. Kxh1 Qh4+ 45. Kg1 Qh2# is the resignation cause. Good weekend everybody!
Dec-03-23  mel gibson: The first ply was obvious but after that it became obscure.

Stockfish 16 says:

41. .. hxg3

(41. .. hxg3 (h4xg3 Qa3-f8+ Rh8xf8
Rc1xc2 Rf8-h8 Rf1-e1 g3xf2+ Rc2xf2 b5-b4 Re1-f1 Qd4-c5 Ba5xb4 Qc5xb4 Rf2xf7 Qb4-c5+ Rf1-f2 Qc5-c1+ Rf2-f1 Qc1-e3+ Rf1-f2 Rh8-c8 Rf7-f3 Rc8-c1+ Kg1-h2 ) +7.92/43 329)

score for Black +7.92 depth 43.

When White resigns it's mate in 3:

43. .. Rh1+

(Rh8-h1+ Kg1xh1 Qd4-h4+ Kh1-g1 Qh4-h2+) +M3/245 1

Black wins _ mate in 3.

Dec-03-23  Brenin: 41 ... hxg3 threatens 42 ... Rh1+ 43 Kxh1 Qh4+ 44 Kg1 Qh2 mate. White cannot create an escape for his K since the f-pawn is pinned, and if the R on f1 moves then Qxf2 is made. Checks by 42 Qd6+ or Bc7+ lead nowhere after Ka8, so the only salvation comes from deflecting the R with 42 Qf8+ Rxf8 44 Rxc2 Rh8 (renewing the threat) 45 Rfe1 (now possible, giving an escape via f1) gxf2+ 46 Rxf2 b4 with Q+P v R+(trapped)B for Black.

  al wazir: 40. Ba6 just encouraged black to move his ♕ to a better square. After 40. Bd6+ Ka8 41. Rac1 Qd4 42. Qb4, white is a piece down with no compensation.
Dec-04-23  Mayankk: I saw the idea of 41 ...hxg3 42 Rxc2 Rh1+ 43 Kxh1 Qh4+ 44 Kg1 Qh2#.

I guessed 42 Rxc2 wasn't forced but either way I didn't see a very effective response to 41 ... hxg3.

Dec-04-23  Refused: 41...hxg3 And white has no defense against Rh1-Qh4-Qh2

there are 1-2 spite checks but that's about it.

Funny side line is 42.Qd6+ Ka8 43.Bd8 gxf2+ 44.Rxf2 Qxf2#
