FSR: Finally, the first pun of mine used in the New Year. Perhaps something else would have been more fitting for St. Patrick's Day, but I won't complain. I had four puns (three of them Christmas-themed) used between December 20 and 31, 2024. Game Collection: Puns I submitted.
Mar-17-25  goodevans: <FSR> I don’t think anyone outside the US is gonna get the pun.

<WannaBe> What’s with the parentheses? Is there some purpose coz Einstein’s famous equation didn’t have them?

<Offramp> Agreed. The wrong rook from White’s perspective but the right one from ours.

Well, I for one don't get it. Anyone?

Teyss: Another infamous case of "The Wrong Rook". White wanted to challenge the BR on the e-file and was maybe wary of 22.Rae1 Bh3 23.Rxe8 Rxe8 after which the WR needs to move and the BR still controls the file. But actually in that case SF recommends 24.Qxa4! (missed that) b5 25.Qxb5 Qxb5 26.cxb5 Bxf1 27.Kxf1 Bxb2 28.a4 where White has N+P vs R and a decent position as the f3 Pawn is lost.

Actually in the case of 22.Rae1, 22...Re2! is stronger. Anyhow great finale by Black, future POTD.

Decent pun. I thought it was linked to the fact the universe might be shaped like a doughnut: https://www.sciencenews.org/article... <WannaBe>'s pun would have been good (without parentheses) if Einstein had won.

Mar-17-25  mrknightly: Sorry I didn't submit this for Saint Patrick's Day, or another game with "Erin." There are actually several in the collection. Maybe next year.

WannaBe: <goodevans> Yeah, I mess that one up, it's the 'C' that is squared, not the whole right side of the formula. =(

Thanks. I had no idea that bagel has several slang meanings. So, pretty good pun, if a bit convoluted.

FSR: <mrknightly> The site won't let you nominate a pun for a game that's already been GOTD, as that game has.
