May-20-06  PolishPentium: Your friendly neighbourhood PolishPentium is unable to discern why White does not play 43 Qd8+ as a prelude to snatching the N at d7. Would this not be enough of an advantage to snare the win? Or would the tempi for Black lead to a draw by perpetual check anyway? Comments from contributors wiser than i would be greatly appreciated...

Jul-07-09  Judah: 89. Kd5 was, of course, a blunder: the right idea a move too early, dropping the pawn (as ...Nb5 threatens both NxR and Nc7+, forking King and Pawn). Any move of the Rook along the a-file would have preserved White's victory, with Ra4 being the most efficient (it allows White's King to go to d5 one move earlier by preventing the potential fork at b4).
Feb-01-12  Knight13: 19...b5? 20. Nxb5! 1-0.
Jan-19-20  Marcelo Bruno: Draw according to Philidor's considerations: K+R against K+N.

jnpope: Interesting. After 77.Rxb4, the Lomonosov Tablebase gives mate in 40 for White. In fact White is "mating" until 89.Kd5??.

dernier loup de T: <PolishPentium>: after 43.Qd8+ Kc5, 44.QxN would effectively lead to draw after ...44.Qc4+ with a perpetual; however, White seems to have a better option after 43...Kc5: 44.Rh4!, with a dangerous attack....
