  zydeco: Maybe 34.Nfxg3 would have been the key defensively to maneuver the knight back to d1 and probably bring the other knight to e2 and maybe f4......It would have been hard to spot the exchange sacrifice from that far out though.

If 40.Kf2 black picturesquely traps the rook with 40....Nc2

Aug-13-13  jerseybob: 7.f4 looks odd at first sight, but white might make it work by moving a knight to f3 on move 8, planning Ne5. 8.Qf3!? disrupts his smooth development, and step by step white slips into the quagmire.
