Nov-22-15  RookFile: Good play by Spielmann. I preferred his position throughout this game.

plang: Capablanca's opening with 7 Qb3, 9 Qxc3 and 12 Nd2 (12 e4..dxe 13 Ne5 was stronger) was imprecise and led to Black taking the initiative. Black would have had good winning chances had he played 17..f5, instead after 17..Ba6 White was able to draw with the help of some clever tactics.

  wwall: After 24.Ra5, White threatens 25.Bxc4 Rxc4 26.Re5+.

In the NY 1927 tournament book by Alekhine, he writes that after 24...Ng4 25.Rb6 Bxf1 26.Rb7+ Ke8 27.Kxf1 and White has nothing more.

But after 26...Ke8 White can play 27.Rxg5 Nf6 (27...Nh6 28.Kxf1) 28.Kxf1 Rc1+ 29.Ke2 Rac8 (29...Rc2+ 30.Ke3 Rac8 31.Re5+) 30.Re5+ Kf8 (30...Kd8 31.Re5+) 31.Rf5 Kg7 31.Bh4 and White might be winning.
