offramp: 22.Qxe6! would have given Alekhine a shock.
Jul-19-05  meloncio: Do you mean 23.Qxe6, perhaps? Anyway I don't see how to win. Please show me your line; I'd like to shock the old Alekhine too. :-D

BTW, nice profile!

offramp: I did indeed mean 23.Qxe6. There might follow 23...fxe6 and then 24.Rxd7 and the black queen is strangely trapped. The World of the Strange! Eerie Tales!
Jul-19-05  meloncio: OK, thanks. Hard to get a win over Alekhine.
Sep-05-05  Calli: Even after, Steiner should win his 24.Nxf7! is excellent because 24...Kxf7 25.Bf4 will win easily. Unfortunately he selects 25.Ncd6? Retreating the knight is good. For instance 25.Nfd6 Be6 26.Bf4 Bxc4 27.Nxc4 Qb7 28.Qb5 Ra8 29.Nd6 Bxd6 30.Bxd6 etc
Nov-11-08  Travis Bickle: Heres an early morning brain teaser to get your head screwed on straight.
Nov-07-13  rasputin 777: Clearly 22...Nd7 doesn't work. I would suggest 22...Nd5 as more resistant with the variation of 23Bf2 Qb7 and trying for an eventual ...f6 with some compensation in the form of the 2 Bishops.

Apr-17-24  Pyrandus: Bravo, Steiner!
